Parua House is a classical colonial
house built in 1883, comfortably
restored and occupying an elevated
site with panoramic views of Parua
Bay and Whangarei harbour. The
property covers 29 ha of farmland
with lush valleys leading into steep slopes of native bush. Two
protected reserves on the property are rich in a variety of native trees
(including kauri) and native birds abound. Guests are welcome to
explore the farm, milk the Jersey house cow, track through the bush beside the Kohinui stream,
explore the olive grove, sub-tropical orchard or just relax in the spa pool or on the verandah overlooking
the marina. A safe swimming beach adjoins the farm with a short walk to a fishing jetty.
Two marinas and an excellent golf course are nearby. We have travelled extensively and especially
welcome overseas guests. Our interests are wide including travel, photography, patchwork-quilting
and horticulture. The house is attractively appointed with antique furniture and a rare collection
of spinning wheels. We enjoy good food, wine and conversation. Fresh home-grown produce is
used where possible along with home-baked bread and freshly squeezed orange juice. Vegetarian
food is provided if requested. A warm welcome awaits you.
