Ponsonby is the liveliest area of
Auckland, full of restaurants,
cafés, boutiques and ceramic shops. The Great Ponsonby, a large,
restored villa, is tucked away in a quiet street. No traffic noises.
Centrally located, close to major attractions, walk or bus to harbour
and downtown. Off-street parking. Bus every ten minutes. The
white exterior is deceptive. Inside is a bold profusion of colour
with art from the Pacific Islands and New Zealand. Queen rooms,
roomier courtyard studios, palm garden suites. All rooms have
colourful, understated modern design. Private bathroom with heated mirror and towel rail,
hairdryer. Tea and coffee making facilities, Sky television, DDI phones, wifi. Studios have a
refrigerator, king or twin beds, leather couch, CD player, dvd & ipod dock. Bath in suites. Leisurely
breakfasts served from our extensive menu. Jason Cochrane, editor of Frommer’s travel magazine,
November 2002 said “my top choice is Great Ponsonby B&B”. English travel guide “Footprint”
says “one of the best B&Bs in the city”. The Great Ponsonby topped accommodation chosen by
NY Times 26/1/03. Resident cat and dog. We can take pets under some conditions,
so please telephone to make a booking.
